What a speeding ticket costs in Alberta right now

Alberta raised traffic fines on March 13, 2026 — the first increase in over a decade. A lot of what you’ll find online is out of date. These are the current amounts, and they already include the 20% Victims of Crime surcharge.

Notice the jump at 16 km/h and again at 40. Those thresholds are steep, which is exactly why the recorded speed on your ticket matters so much.
